Guidelines for Setting Goals.

There are a lot of experts that give guidelines for setting goals. Before setting our 2010 Financial Goals, I decided to read this article on Dave's site. He says there are 5 important steps to developing goals that work. Goals should be

* Specific
* Measurable
* Yours
* Time-sensitive
* Written

I'll admit, I'm not always very good at meeting those criteria when setting goals. When I do, though, I find that I'm extremely effective. I'm getting pretty good at writing our goals. I really need that accountability to make it work. I often fall short of the specific aspect. I make general statements like, "I'd like to do better at..." or "I'd like to increase/decrease... " With all this in mind, I've decided to delay my post on my 2010 goals until I can meet all 5 criteria for each goal. I love a good challenge!
